What is BMI?

BMI stands for Body Mass Index and is a measurement that is used to calculate a person’s health based on their weight and height. More specifically, it measures whether a person is underweight, normal weight, over weight, or obese based on what range they fall in.

Risks of Being Overweight:

  • High blood pressure
  • Increased cholesterol levels
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Heart disease, stroke, gallbladders disease and other diseases
  • Sleeping problems such as sleep apnea
  • Certain cancers(breast, colon, kidney)
  • Lower quality of life
  • Mental illness
  • A generally higher mortality rate

  • Osteoporosis
  • Growth and development issues and reproduction issues for women
