6 More Reasons You’re Not Losing Weight (Even Though You’re Doing Everything Right)

In our previous article, we explored 6 reasons why you may not be losing weight. From not tracking food intake to not eating clean, whole foods, there are many changes you can make to accelerate your weight loss. If you missed that article, check it out here.   This week we will review the next 6 reasons why you’re not losing weight even though you’re doing everything right.

7: You’re Eating Too Many “Healthy” Foods

Too much of a good thing can still be not so good. If you’ve replaced unhealthy foods with healthier alternatives, that doesn’t mean you can eat more of them. Replacing a bowl of ice cream with a healthier snack is great, but if you’re still eating the same amount of calories you won’t see any weight loss. Still make the switch to healthy alternatives but keep an eye on how much you’re eating. Check the calories in every snack you have, even the healthy ones. You can track your foods on our fabulous online diet app and receive delicious meal-planning tips and recipes.

8: You Need to Level Up Your Cardio

Cardio is a great way to lose weight, but you need to make sure you/’re doing it right. Walking one or two miles is great for your health and has so many benefits. Weight loss, however, is not one of those benefits.   It could take up to 10 miles of walking a day before you start to see any weight loss, so it might be time to level up your cardio. Focus on the intensity of your cardio instead of duration and you’ll start to see an increase in weight loss. Add gentle Yoga or Pilates for flexibility, stress release, and toning. It’s also beneficial to take some strength training classes. Please check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.

9: Too Many Sugary Drinks

You may think that just one soda per day is okay, but even that can drive up weight gain. The calories you’re getting from soda will slow down your weight loss, but those calories don’t even make you feel full.   If you drink a sugary beverage then eat a full lunch, all you’ve done is add extra empty calories into your diet. Transitioning into healthy beverage alternatives will help you lose weight faster. Try having some iced green tea with a touch of honey or water with fresh mint leaves and chopped ginger.

10: You’re Getting Low-Quality Sleep

An unhealthy sleep schedule can result in weight gain. For example, if you switch back and forth between day shifts and night shifts, then you’re disrupting your body’s natural circadian rhythm. This nonstop disruption of a healthy sleep pattern has negative effects on your body.   Those with a normal and regular sleep schedule will be more successful with weight loss. Evaluate your sleeping habits and maybe you’ll find that you need to make changes. You want to set goals for 7-8 hours of sleep a night. We have an incredible selection of natural supplements to help calm your mind and manage your cortisol for better energy and sleep.

11: Your Desk Job is Too Still

If you work a desk job, you may not realize how little you are moving around. A lifestyle where you spend so much  time sitting still can make it much harder to lose weight. If you’re trying to lose weight, sitting at a desk all day then coming home and sitting on a couch won’t do anything for you.   Find time throughout the day to incorporate movement and exercise. Even if it’s something small or quick, it’s better than sitting still all day. We recommend walking 2 to 5 minutes for every hour you are sitting or standing up and stretching for one minute every half an hour.

12: You’re Eating Too Often

If you’re eating small snacks or meals all day long, you may not be seeing the weight loss results you want. Intermittent fasting may help you to see better results. Hitting your calorie goals in short periods of time as opposed to longer periods of time can help boost your weight loss.   Focus on your meals and eliminate small snacks in between to see better and faster results. Eating clean healthy protein with healthy fats can help you stay fuller longer. We can help you find the right medical weight loss program for losing weight, managing insulin resistance, burning fat, improving energy, balancing hormones, and much more.
